The Brief
Computer games designer Walter Leggett approached Plico Design about building a 3D mannequin of the hero from their latest digital game they are designing. While the game uses real time 3D rendering it would save a huge amount of time to start with an actual physical construction. This gives the artist more of a chance to focus on some of the many details these games require.
The Execution
It was apparent from the simple computer generated images that this would be a job more suited to paper sculpture, (cut, glue and fold) as opposed to pure origami. This enabled us to rapidly produce prototypes each time refining the design until we had a version the client was comfortable with. We then went on to construct a number of versions with the character in different positions.
